Digtal Love's really Long Draft Guide

Dear Digital Lovers, it’s been too long. I’ve been at a basketball camp the past two days, all day. I apologize for the days in which you happily logged on and the smiles were wiped off of your face when you saw Brian’s quote. Now as will learn I love drafts NBA and the NFL. As you non-sports lovers who read this (1 to my knowledge) the NBA draft recently took place. This NBA draft is supposed to be the deepest draft in years. I will now break down the winners, losers, good players, bad players, and anything else you would like to know about it.
Winners
Portland Trail Blazers- Best Overall Draft. Set up their franchise for years to come, with this draft the Trail Blazers pretty much just reserved 3 NBA titles. Picks- C Greg Oden 1st overall, Ohio State. Some people say that Greg is going to be a Hall of Famer. He has great feet, strength, and shot blocking that is the best since Dikembe Mutumbo. The worst case scenario is that Oden is only a 5 time All-Star. SG Rudy Fernandez 24th overall, Spain. Great shooter/ athlete, would have been lottery pick if he would not have to stay in Europe for another year. Traded Suns cash for this pick. PG Petteri Koponen 30th overall, Finland. Picking a Finnish player? Sure he’s a freak athlete, but I think Taurean may have upper hand. Could move to shooting guard. PF Josh McRoberts 37th overall, Duke. A very good pick, McRoberts will be a great complementary post player for Oden, Aldridge, and Frye. Great passer, a typical soft duke player, not a great scorer. Rebounding and shot blocking get by. Will complement the team nicely. PG Taurean Green 52nd overall, Florida. Need another point guard, is the steal of the draft. Also Vic Meena said he was the best player on those Florida teams. When you get a two time National Championship winner at point guard at pick 52 you are a draft winner. When the Trail Blazers win their championships, Taurean will be know as the steady point guard who gave the ball to Oden, Roy, Aldridge, and Fernandez. PF Demetris Nichols 53rd overall, Syracuse. Nothing great, most likely a career D-League player.
Notes- Amazing trade, traded with Knicks to get two contributors (Steve Francis and Channing Frye). Gave up two role players and a bench warmer.
Chicago Bulls- Went under the radar for the most part, but great draft. Picked players proven at the college level. All of who were at least 2nd team All-Conference. PF/C Joakim Noah 9th overall, Florida. Noah was a big part of their back-to-back championships, and he is energetic, runs the floor, and can rebound. Noah will not make an immediate impact, sitting behind Ben Wallace, PJ Brown, and the #4 pick from last year Tyrus Thomas. C Aaron Gray 49th overall, Pittsburgh. Gray was a fantastic college player, all 7’2 of him. He will eventually develop into a player who has 10 and 7 every night. Eventually. SG JamesOn Curry 51st overall, Okalahoma State. JamesOn is a great shooter who also can take the big shot. JamesOn really drooped in the draft because of his size (6’3) but I really think he is going to be a contributor after a few years on the bench. Little Bonus- JamesOn is my friend on FaceBook.
Golden State Warriors- The best team in the NBA with one of the top 3 drafts? Yeah they did it. SG Marco Belinelli 18th overall, Italy. This Italian sharpshooter should get nice minutes in the NBA’s #2 offense, and should average around 15 a game. Then the Warriors made a brilliant trade in trading Jason Richardson to the Bobcats for Brandan Wright. That trade opens up the starting Shooting Guard position for Jackson Mississippi’s very own Monta Ellis. Great move Warriors. PF Brandan Wright 8th overall, North Carolina. Will thrive in system. Can run well jumps great, and has a wingspan of 7’4. Brandan should be an 8 time All-Star in Warriors system. Great draft, my #2 rated. Unloaded Richardson’s huge contract and got possibly the next Chris Bosh.

Losers
Cleveland Cavilers- Wait, how can the Cavs lose in the draft if they don’t have any picks? By not having any picks, they cannot do the only thing their franchise needs to do. Surround King James with good talent. Example Not Larry Hughes and Donyell Marshall.
Atlanta Hawks- Everyone on ESPN had the Hawks having a solid draft, but they did not. PF/C Al Hortford is not a bad pick, PG Acie Law will probably be an All-Star, unless the Hawks find a way to screw up his career (which they are perfectly capable of). The reason Hortford is not a very good pick. Hawks first round picks past 4 years.
2007- Al Hortford PF/ C 3rd overall
2006- Sheldon Williams C 6th overall
2005- Marvin Williams PF 2nd overall (D Williams and CP were there)
2004- Josh Childress F 6th overall
2004- Josh Smith PF 17th overall
See a pattern?

Good Drafts
Seattle Supersonics
- Got Superstar F Kevin Durant 2nd overall and F Jeff Green 5th overall both are future All-Stars. And that Durant guy may end up in the Hall of Fame. And picked up PF Carl Landry @ pick 31.
Phoenix Suns- Got a solid player 29th overall in Alando Tucker good athlete can run. Was Big 12 player of the year. And my best value pick in the draft. Second to last SG D.J. Strawberry. Yes that is Darrell’s son but he did test out as best athlete at the NBA pre draft camp. Suns-athlete good match.
Detroit Pistons- 2 players slipped and fell to them G Rodney Stucky 15th overall and Aaron Afflalo 27th overall. Afflalo best player on two Final 4 teams.

Didn't mess anything up
I would talk about the Lakers, Timberwolves, Jazz, Clippers, 76ers, Grizzlies, and Bobcats draft. But my hands hurt. And if you read this whole post then you wasted 10 minutes of your life.

Feel free to comment Digital Lovers (Meena).

Quote of the Week

Happy Tuesday! To all of the 12 Digital Love readers. You know what Tuesday means, Digital Love's quote of the week. This weeks quote is brought to you by one of The Bold New City's very own, Mr. Brian Sorgenfrei. While he was preaching on the book of Ester. Here is what Brian had to say.

"The Junior High dance floor is a just a big ball of insecurity."

All I am going to say about that quote is that Digital Love's knowledge on life was increased after he said that.

A Rare Experience

After the first Sunday my church (First Presbyterian Church) opened its new sanctuary, my family celebrated by eating at Char with the Abraham’s. After the meal I was giving Sumner and Davis (fellow bloggers) a ride home.
So we are pulling up to stoplight on Northside Drive in front on the Chevron and I am next to a car with a couple inside. But the strange thing is the passenger’s door is open and the lady is crying. I get behind the car and the only thing we can make out through his rear window is his fist flying through the air into his lover.
They pull over at the right turning lane and stop and once again her door opens. We pull over as well on the other side of the corner houses yard and watch in aw. Mr. Sumner pulls over and asks me if we are okay. We point out the car and tell him we have already called the police. Then another man strongly resembling Dr. Crasto and gets this pistol out of his car and walks over to there car. While all this is going on Davis, Sumner, and I are leaning against my Volvo on the opposite side of the action. We are all thinking somebody is about to get shot and are going to be on the news. Well I hate to say there was no shooting, but the citizen of the day award belongs to Dr. Crasto’s twin.

Thankyou you for reading digital love. Feel free to comment or visit us again.

What has little league baseball come to

Like the Aerosmith song "Living on the Edge" something is wrong with the world today. But I might know what it is. 10 year old baseball. (See Below)

A few nights ago I was working at the baseball field. During my 15 minute break I decided to watch one of the games. This game I was watching was a 10 year old “All-Star” game. (I’m not sure if they are still called All-Stars.) Anyway, I was watching in the top of the 6th and the batting team was down by 3 or 4 and had 2 base runners on base and no outs. Then the pitching team (in a strategic baseball move) put their “CLOSER” in. A 10 year old team with a closer. Wow. Back when I was 10 the two coach’s sons each pitched three innings in the 6 inning games. (On a few occasions someone else got to pitch.) Oh but wait, then I saw the pitching teams coach give the same signals I thought I saw Lou Pinnela give a few nights ago. He touched his sleeves, his face about 4 times, and his shoe. After all of these events had taken place the batting teams coach told all of his players to watch for the curve because the “closer” had throw about 15 in a row during warm-ups (The batting team also had 6 coaches on the field. Yes, I said 6.) The kids came up and the closer threw about 15 curveballs in a row and struck out all three hitters. This “closer” will probably throw out his arm by the age of 12, or have Tommy John surgery at the age of 15. I hope little league baseball doesn’t come down to hit and runs, double steals, and sac bunts to win games. Instead Digital Love would like 10 year old baseball to be like it used to be when the kids cared about the snow cones after the game or whether he turned that double play in inning three.

I hope you enjoyed your 2 minutes on Digital Love, feel free to comment or to visit us again.

Absences at Insight

Today at insight there were a few people not there that were well missed. Davis Abraham, Brian Sorgenfrei, and Ryan Swindell. I have Swindell’s excuse and it is legitimate. I am sure that Brian has one. Now Davis, where were you? Also the rising tenth grade girls were not there and are actually 0/5 on possible insight appearances. I don’t think any of that group of girls will read this, much less I am not certain any girls read this blog at all. Davis, Ryan, Brian, and at least a few Rising tenth grade girls me and many others would like to see yall at the Abrahams next Sunday night listening to the Gospel.

U.S. Open

Hello. This is Sanford Moore. My posts will more than likely be different than that of Davis’s. By my last posts I hope to have many more youths in the greater Jackson area watching PGA Tour Events. Golf is the most underrated Sport to watch by young people and I can see some people calling it boring and slow paced. But if you just read my interesting updates about the PGA Tour tournaments and its Players you should have a different outlook. The 107th U.S. Open is to be held at Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania. This might be the hardest course in the United States Played on tour along with Augusta National of course. They had over 5,000 trees removed since the last U. S. Open held there in 1994 where Ernie Els took home the trophy. Also 4 more rows of grass were added to the famous church pew bunkers which penalize a hooked shot on 2 consecutive holes. The worst part about this course and all U.S. Open courses is the rough. At Oakmont they have a graduated rough where they cut the grass ascending in height away from the fairway. So the worse shot you hit, the more you have to pay. What everybody wants on the Tour is for 1. Tiger Woods to be paired with 2. Phil Mickleson on Sunday. That probably won’t happen this weekend because Phil has a hurt wrist. Pansy. And Tiger’s game has really been lacking lately. At the Players Championship he only had 1 day under par, where the winner (Phil) was -11. Anyway back the Oakmont, it has been played a record 8 times as the U.S. Open where only 23 players have finished 72 holes under par. And when you play golf for a living and have top of the line equipment and don’t mess up a lot, that’s tells you something about the course. Halfway through the first round Cabrera who has never made the cut ever in a PGA Tour event shot a one under 69. The leader thus far is Dougherty at -2. I will have another posts wrapping up the U.S. Open.

The Beging of a New Era (Way of Life)

Hello there readers of Digital Love. This is not a creepy, "blocked parental control" blog. This is me and my friend's thoughts on sports, life in general, stuff that bugs sanford, fashion, good music, and any other fields we did not cover. Most of you are wondering how we came up with the name Digital Love. Me and my fellow blogger Sanford were at my home listening to Itunes party shuffle. The song Digital Love by Daft Punk came on, and we were overcome with awe and delight. At this same time we were on the screen making our blog name and it just hit us. Some of our inspirations include: Sweet Emotion, The Private Caucus, Mark Cuban, Gilbert Arenas, and Jose Canseco... Nevermind. And the 2408 at the end represents a way of life that we live. We hope you find the time you spend here.. time well spent, and enjoy our thoughts. That's all for Digital Love's first post, we'll see you next time.
